DFA signees Hercules & Love Affair, aka Brooklyn producer Andy Butler, enlists Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons for "Blind", a superb disco track we recently put on repeat. Pitchfork's Mark Richardson called the track "throbbing, rubbery, simultaneously hip-moving loose and mechanically propulsive," and there are aspects of that in the song's video, directed by London-based Saam (Klaxons, These New Puritans, Janet Jackson). Mostly, though, the clip emphasizes the disorientation that can occur with your eyes closed. Actress Jamie Winstone of 2006 UK film Kidulthood walks nervously up toward some people wearing vaguely Roman garb-- they're all surrounded by columns, anyway. As smoke obscures the actress' vision, a bacchanalian orgy takes place all around her, hearkening back to the pre-AIDS days of disco and places like the Continental Baths, where Larry Levan DJed and which advertisers promoted as recalling "the glory of ancient Rome". - from pitchfork
